Creating a Privacy, Disclosure and Disclaimer Policy for Your Blog

Having a privacy, disclosure, and disclaimer policies are very important for your blog. As you have probably seen with more popular and professional websites, they have these policies. These policies inform your readers about the legal aspects of your blog or website.

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to write your own privacy policy, disclosure policy, and disclaimer. Usually, this employs a background in law, maybe even years in law school or if you are able, hiring a lawyer and paying him to create these policies for you.

Why do bloggers need a Privacy Policy?

Identity theft is rampant. People who have given precious information albeit needed to make online purchases or other business transactions have fallen prey to identity thieves who use that information to impersonate and commit fraud. Because of this, people online are cautious to disclose important information for they are frightened by the possibility of being a victim.

This is why a privacy policy is needed to let readers know exactly what is done with the data they give you. If you have no plans in using the data other than what is required, then it is good to let your readers know just that. This will dispel any fears and will make them more likely to register for your services or whatever your particular website offers.

Why do bloggers need a Disclosure Policy?

Many bloggers and websites owners on the Internet receive payments or forms of compensation for certain content so their opinion, in the eyes of their readers, may have a slight bias. A disclosure policy is aimed at letting your readers know how that may affect the content or services offered by your website and explains the purpose and interests of the blogger in his published posts. Because of this, your readers will feel more comfortable with the content that you provide on your blog and will trust your opinion if you declare that your opinions are your own.

Why do bloggers need a Disclaimer?

A disclaimer is usually intended to limit the author's or owner's responsibility; it is a statement that denies responsibility, primarily legal. It serves to abdicate some responsibility for the published content. A disclaimer is usually used in events or situations that involve a certain level of uncertainty or risk.
